Okay, I'm posting this question for an issue my father's having. I got him this remote for Christmas and he seems to love it, but the one thing going on with it is that it's dropping the internet connection constantly. He can stream from his computer (MP3s and movies) with zero problems, and the DHCP table will still show the device (MAC address and IP address), but the remote just loses the connection for (seemingly) no reason. As far as I know he's updated the firmware (one of my first questions) and has, of course, tried it from the same room as the wireless router. My only suggestion that he hadn't tried was to put the remote's IP on the DMZ and try that out. Aside from that everything else he's done.
He also said he's been reading around and this seems to be a common problem, but I wanted to take a crack at it myself. Any thoughts?

Check the firmware in your father's wireless router - I just updated mine and my wireless devices drop out far less than they used to.
I'd speculate that the router is an 802.11g type deal (if it's newer than 12months) but might not be handling the 802.11b of the remote properly.
