Just installed RC9800i.

Using Toshibia TV's inputs.

There are 5 inputs, the last is not used, however it has been identified to the RC9800i as a Vacant input.

Issue is that the RC9800i as I have it programmed does not send out a initization signal to the Toshibia TV to bring up the input selection menu.

As programmed the RC9800i just sends the number of input selection signals to step down to the input that is associated with the device selected.

Input 1 = Cable
Input 2 = TIVO
Input 3 = Digital Cable Box
Input 4 = DVD/VCR
Input 5 = Vacant

Without the warning/wake-up signal if you are watching Input 1 and select TIVO on the RC9800i only one pulse is sent.. the menu appears and the input source on the TV remains = Cable.. the RC9800i is now showing PVR (TIVO).. pressing the "fix" button it can be re-synchronized....

Does anyone know of a way to add a initization/warning/wake-up pulse to the RC9800i to fix this issue?

Thanks.

What you can do is adding a dummy device or what is called on this forum a pseudo device [Link: remotecentral.com]
or
[Link: remotecentral.com]

This is not a device which you actually have but just one (preferably similar device as already in the activity, but different brand) you add to the activity. You then program the power on button for this device with the warning/wake-up signal. If the activity is powered on the dummy device will generate the wake-up ir-code for your activity.

I hope this inspires you and good luck
