Hello:
I have had my pronto tsu7000 for a year now and never really used it so I am very very new to it.
I just bought a sony BDP-S1 blu-ray player and I don't have a remote for it. I thought i would program my 7000 to run the player but it dosen't find the player when i try to learn it.
Anyone have any ideas, please in laymans terms as i am new.
Thanks so much

I'm confused. You say you do not have the remote. But then you say you are having trouble learning. How can you learn if you don't have the remote?

I don't have the remote that comes with the BDP-S1 i aimed the 7000 at the player and it couldn't find the player. I turned the player on the 7000 searched but nothing happened normally the 7000 would have turned of the player letting me know it would now control the player

OK, you are searching not learning. It sounds like the 7000 does not have the codes which is reasonable as blu-ray was not around when the 7000 was released. You would only find the codes if an older device (such as a DVD player) used the same on/off codes.

Have you looked in the Files area to see if anyone has posted the codes for this player?

I presume at this stage you probably have a layout in your remote you want to use to control the player (if the player is replacing a DVD player maybe those pages modified)

I would open both files and copy and paste the pages into your layout. Hide this device and then alias the commands in your own layout. This approach I have found to be the best way forward in general. Barring any different functions you want to add it makes it a lot easy to upgrade. just change the learned or downloaded codes on the hidden device when the itch for newer shinier boxes takes hold.

I'm presuming as a pronto owner you are almost certainly likely to be affected by upgrade fever and get seduiced by new boxes like I do :-)

I hate to admit this but i didn't understand anything in the last post.
I bassically just turned the 7000 on the only thing i used it for sofar is to turn on my tv. I pointed it at the tv the 7000 searched found it thats it. I'm completely ignorant
when it comes to the 7000. Could you explain differently.
Thanks

Right I see.
Well to really get the most of your pronto then you really need to use your PC.

Install the latest software and update the firmware on the remote to the latest (both can be found in the files section above)

Personally I then started downloading some full system files from here, worked out how they worked and how the software works. Its quite a steep learning curve but didn't take me too long.

Alternatively you can get a guide called the ultimate pronto guide. Which I have heard is pretty good and well recommended, you can get it from:

Once you know a bit more about the software then hopefully my advice above should mean something :-)

While you can acheive quite a lot with the remote alone (I believe so anyway never tried as the whole point of pronto to me is the whole complete customisation thing) you are restricted to either the existing database or learning from the original remote.

If you are happy with what you've already done on the remote so far you can even upload what you have done so far to the software and start from there although I can really recommend trying some other peoples layouts from the file area. Although by no means comprehensive as instructions or a guide the review on this site gives a good idea of the differences of using the default config and rolling your own (or modifying others)

Jim:
Thanks alot for your input. I think i should just sell my 7000 as i don't have alot of time to spend on it. I have 4 kids between football, cheerleading, school and activities
i usually don't have time to spare.
If i sell the 7000 i can buy a remote for my blu-ray player and have plenty left over....
Lou
