I'm attempting to program my brand new Pronto 7500, and after every three IR codes it learns the remote freezes up and any further attempts to learn codes end up timing out. All the software is up to date, and I don't know what to do.

I think it may have to do with specific codes, too. For example, when I try to have it learn my Denon AVR-987 Power On discrete code, it ALWAYS freezes.

What the hell? This is not the quality I expect from a $600 remote.

It gets worse...ProntoProEdit NG now refuses to recognize my PCF file when I double-click it ("not a valid file"). And when I open the file from the File | Open dialog, the PCF opens, but three hours of work on a single page (took me that long thanks to the constant freeze-ups) is completely GONE. Fortunately, some of that work is actually ON the remote, but when I attempt to download the remote configuration from the remote back into ProntoProEdit NG, the page with all the work is EMPTY. However the page works on the remote.

I am not a happy camper. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have a defective remote -- can you return it? I have never had the sort of problems you describe, and I do use discrete codes with my Denon equipment.

Do you have the latest firmware and software? Have you tried resetting your Pronto and rebooting your computer. Also, reloading the firmware often fixes problems.
