I am trying to cut and paste a couple of Sony Projector codes from the Discrete Codes into Pronto Pro Edit NG for Power On & Power Off. They are as follows:

Power On

0000 0066 0000 0010 0061 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0031 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0329

Power Off

0000 0066 0000 0010 0060 0019 0031 0018 0031 0018 0031 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0018 0031 0018 0019 0310

My problem is that when I click OK and then go back into the code, it has changed the 0329 (at the end of Power On) to 031C and the 0310 (at the end of Power Off) to 0306.

Why is it doing this? When I try to change it back it just changes it again. I am very frustrated by this as the code won't work with these automatic mystery changes. I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm overlooking something.

Thanks for your help!!

Kurt

Have you tested the codes? Don't get hung up on the end values unless they don't work. The end values may change as a particular IR protocol may require a longer off-time at the end to be in spec. PENG/PPENG may change these last numbers on occasion to honor a protocol. So, if they don't work then worry. Otherwise, leave 'em be.

Don't get hung up on the end values regardless of whether the codes work.

The end values may change

and the change is not significant to anything.

at the end to be in spec. PENG/PPENG may change these

Hardly. PENG/PPENG do not make such changes to bring a signal into correct spec for the protocol, nor for any other important purpose. It is an artifact of translation between internal formats. The change does neither good nor harm.

So, if
they don't work then worry.

If they don't work then worry about some other aspect of the signal, such as the pronto hex you found isn't valid for your model, or your device is set up for an alternate code set, etc. The end value is NOT the reason the code doesn't work.

The codes in post 1 of this thread do match functions 46 and 47 documented here:

So I'm sure they are the correct discrete power commands for someone's Sony projector, but maybe not your Sony projector.

Post the Pronto Hex for a few signals learned from your original Sony projector remote, and maybe that will tell us enough about the code set your projector uses.

Since these are indeed Sony Codes, you may find that you have to adjust the 'Duration' setting to 0.2s or 0.3s for them to work reliably.

Kurt77++ has posted that he has the same projector and said the codes worked for him, that's why I was wondering. But I definitely will post the other codes that were learned by the original remote since you said that may help determine why it is not working. I will also try the duration setting. Thanks for all of your help and willingness to be of assistance. I appreciate it.

I would have thought the default duration (what it does if you don't give it a duration) for Sony codes in an NG Pronto would be around 0.3s, so setting 0.2 or 0.3 might not make any change in what the Pronto actually sends.

But Lyndel probably knows more than I do about duration setting in an NG Pronto and/or duration requirements of Sony devices, so it's certainly worth trying his suggestion.

If you really think duration is an issue, it's best to try a big duration. If that fixes the problem, then you can experiment to see what smaller duration is good enough. So I'd start with at least 0.9. If that doesn't help and the default duration didn't work, then no duration in between would help either.

The duration was the issue! Setting it about .5 did the trick. Thanks to all of you who helped get this projector up and running! Now I can continue to program it! I'll continue to ask for assistance as all of you are extremely helpful. Thanks!
