Hi everyone

I've just recently 'upgraded' from my trusty RU890 to a TSU3000, thinking it would be a good improvement seeing as it has more hard buttons & more memory etc.

I've had it a few months but was still using the old Pronto until I sold it today.

I've only just begun trying to set up the TSU3000 but am having a problem straight away with it. Basically when trying to teach it codes in learn mode it keeps resetting.
I have had a bit of luck with some commands but it does this quite a lot, just not all the time.
I have found pressing certain keys on the existing setup (even when not learning!) causes it to reset straight away, other times it's when you are trying to make it learn.

Am I doing something stupid here or have I bought a broken remote?!

I have tried upgrading the firmware to see if that would help, but it hasn't made any difference. The batteries are fine too.

If anyone could shed any light on this problem I'd be REALLY grateful!!

Thanks in advance
Jim

I had this problem when the batteries were low - new good quality cells fixed it.

Worth a try

Doh! I fitted some new ones and it seems ok so I guess it was just that.
Whilst I was looking for some other topics I found a thread about the same thing so I thought it must have been!

Thanks for the reply though.

My next thing is that I can't seem to allocate a brand to anything or find the internal database in it but I suspect it's just because I don't properly know what I'm doing yet.

Is it possible the database may have been wiped from it though, and if so, what's an easy way to check if it's there, and update/refresh if necessary?

Another thing I'm having trouble with is assigning a brand to a device button. For instance, I go into the settings mode & select 'brand', then get the message about choosing a device etc. When I press on a device button, I get an 'error' tone on all buttons apart from two called Timer & Macro that were there from the previous owner. Why is it that I can choose brands for those buttons but not the ones I actually need to? Again I'm assuming this is because I'm doing something wrong but have not been able to find out so far....

Ta!
Jim

You need to put the default config file in order to have the library.

Thanks! I'm guessing that will be on the disc with the software then hopefully.

So when you add another configuration the database goes? Seems a bit odd.

You can use the database codes in your own config in prontoeditNG. I'd recommend the latest firmware and prontoeditNG from the files section on here. Don't bother with the disc I believe it will be quite an old version. The newer version of prontoedit needs the new firmware so do both.
Once the software is installed the default config is in the samples directory but the whole purpose of the pronto is to have something more personal (and/or flashy). I spent hours trying out files on the simulator before I chose a file to start with. The default config looks like absolute pants in comparison to what can be acheived.

The database (IR Code Database) is always there and NOT tied to a specific configuration. I think that your problem is that you are trying to create new devices on the remote rather than in software.

What is NOT in the config you currently have but IS in the default config are 'template' devices (See F1 Help and do a search). It is these 'template' devices that show up when you want to select a new device type directly on the remote.

After downloading your configuration, you lose the ability to create new devices on the remote if there are not 'template' devices. Anyway, it's not a best practice to setup devices on your remote. You should be using the software to do this (IMO).

Make more sense now?
