I say tomato, you say tomato...

I modified a pair of TSU7500s remotes for a client today -- they changed DVD players. I was surprised to find that one of the pcfs was stored in the TSU7000 subdirectory and when I open it, it says the file name and says TSU7000. It is a color file, though.

I can't find any place where I could define or redefine the file as a file for a 7500. Anybody know how to correct this? It doesn't seem to affect how anything works and it doesn't change the graphics to black and white; I'd just like to correct it.

Thanks.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie, ???? The 7000 is a color remote.

From PPENG, try File->Save As and set the correct remote type for TSU7500 in the lower drop-down.

Well, duh, there's a detail I totally forgot. I did two of them and must have known that at one time.

Yup, it sure did. Here's an example of tunnel vision -- I didn't see this because I had it in my head that the 7000 was a monochrome remote, so I didn't even look.

Ernie,

Is it time for another tag-line?

Geez, And there's even a picture of a 7000 at the top of this forum's main page.

I just replaced my Tsu3000 with a Tsu3500 (the 3000 screen had become unreliable, even with the needle trick). Is there a difference betweem the *000 and *500 formats (3000 vs 3500)? I was able to load my old 3000-based config into the new 3500, but I have now done a "save as" 3500, as outlined above (for the 7500).

Thanks,

-- Dave

There's no difference other than doing the "Save As" which changes the header of the PCF.

There is one important difference with respects to saving a given file as a TSU7000 file versus a TSU7500 file. If saved as a TSU7000 file the TSU7000 Simulator will be what launches via the editor if used and will report the free memory available on the settings page based on the memory capacity of the TSU7000, 32 megs. If saved as a TSU7500 file the TSU7500 Simulator is what is used which bases its reported free memory on 48 megs. So for purposes of checking how much free memory will be left in the remote prior to download via the Simulator it's important to first save your PCF to the proper file type if you have not done so already. For instance, my TSU7500 PCF is too large to download to a TSU7000. If I saved the file as a TSU7000 file it would still download to a TSU7500, but would not load in the TSU7000 Simulator. The Simulator in this case would come up with an error message as the file is too large to download to a TSU7000. On the other hand, if I save my PCF as a TSU7500 file which I have it does load in the Simulator.
