I here a lot of talk about the different progams used to make and alter buttons (from barrowed configs). I have Photoshop and Arcsoft Photo studio (came loaded on my PC). I am having some issues, if I right click a button and save as image (inside pronto config) then open it in one of these progams make my changes then save, the picture has a white boarder. I then to make it go somewhat away by chaning the transparancy settings. But the button never looks the same. Now I don't know if this is a layer thing, or a transparancy setting. I lack the proper knowledge to make and alter buttons like I wish. Where can one learn (preferably video, no book) how to use these progams for uses like these? And what is the preferred progam to use for such tasks?
I love technology! I just need to figure out how to use it. Keeping up with it's growing rate is hard enough!

Photoshop is fine, just harder to learn. You need to save the pic so that it has an Alpha Transparent background. This will eliminate the white background.

Its sounds to me like your not saving your graphics in the correct format.

If you haven't already, try saving the graphics you have worked on as .png this retains the transparent background.

Be interested to know how you get on.

Thanks, Adam.

I recently upgaded my Photoshop to the lasted version CS3. I am sure it is over kill for what I'll ever need, but that's the way I am. I also got the lasted version of Coreldraw X3 (version 13). Of these two I should have no problem making what I want. Now I just need to teach myself, which I am in the process of doing. What I really need is to know where all you guys learned. There are a ton of instructional books and CD ROM/DVD's but which is best for the purpose of creating and manipulating buttons.

Web tutorials for Photoshop of PSP is where I picked up most of my tips. However, there's no good replacement for trial, error, and lots of practice.
