I have been using Daniel Tonk's layout for some time now (Daniel: thanks a lot !!! :-) )
But because I am Dutch, I would like to add some Dutch labels like the ones Daniel has made for the section labels and category labels.

I know how to use Paint Shop Pro 9/X fairly well and I already have a nice collection of freeware fonts installed.
However, I can't seem to find or use a font in a way to produce the small-but-very-readable labels like Daniel has.

Could somebody (Daniel ?!) point me to some fonts that can be used for this, the font size that is best for this and if any special processing in PSP is needed?!

Thanx!

Blow the image up to 400% it's normal size, add the text, then shrink back down. Use Bicubic or Smart Size in the image editor of your choice.

See this link for article from Daniel...

FYI, he uses the Swiss font in his PCF. Search for +Swiss +Daniel and you should find some hits to get the exact name of the font.

The red text on the horizontal dividing lines is in Swiss 721 BlkExt BT. The narrow text used for large device icons is in Swiss 721 BlkCn BT. The narrow slightly yellow text used on the tiny device icons at the top of the screen is Swiss921 BT. The room names at the top of the screen are a mix of Swiss924 BT and Swiss721 Blk BT. So, basically the Swiss family.

However as I worked in the vector realm it was easy to "massage" text to fit where it didn't want, and tweak character spacing.

If anything I would do the text larger than needed on a transparent background and then resample only it smaller to place and merge with the original graphic. Being a bit of a perfectionist I wouldn't resample the main graphic unless absolutely needed.

Ah, I had not seen this nice article yet - it seems I overlooked the "Features" part of this site completely until now... :-(
And thanx for the tips and font names!

If all works out well, maybe I could make a little Dutch 'addendum' for Daniels great pcf design :-)

I've been playing around with a lot of different fonts, and the one I like best for Pronto buttons and text lines is Futura Md BT, and for page titles Futura XBlkIt BT. (Try using the latter in white-outlined transparent form over a darkish background - really high-impact.) There are a lot of similarities to the Swiss fonts, but my 68-year old eyes prefer the Futura. Seems crisper to me.
