Hey all. I have a TSU3000 that has lost the ability to upload from the remote. I can download to it without a problem but I cannot retrieve a .pcf from the remote. This problem has been plaguing me for a while, just this one remote out of all the 3000s I have done. I have tried it on different computers, I have tried several firmware revisions, all to no avail. Just curious to see if anyone else has had this problem, and if so what they did to overcome it. I hadn't posted sooner, since it was never a show stopper, and I keep backups of all my .pcf files, but still, I am curious.

Thanks in advance

What is the error message?

It could be a corrupt PCF. Have you tried downloading another PCF then uploading that?

FYI, the firmware revision you are using may be too old for the current software. Just switching firmware may not be enough. You may need to also use the matching software.

I am aware of the software/firmware matchups, whenever I try a different firmware I use the appropriate software. I keep all the old versions, in matched pairs. I have tried several .pcf files, and the one in particular that resides on the Pronto in question works fine upload or download on other 3000s. Off the top of my head, I don't remember the error message I get, but I do remember that the status bar for the transfer makes it to different points every time before it fails. It generally fails roughly 1/3 of the way through, sometimes sooner, sometimes it nearly makes it, but ususally about 1/3 of the way. Next time I am able to play around with that Pronto again, I will remember to take note of exactly what message it gave me when it failed.

Thanks for the responses

Are you uploading with the USB connected directly to the remote or going through the Docking Station? Try with a direct connection to the remote and make sure you are not connected through a USB hub. Hubs have never caused me a problem but they or USB driver issues could be affecting your communication. However, this does not explain why other remotes work.

No hub, and I have tried with and without the dock. And again, this happens regardless of what PC it is connected to. Since I can still load the remote from the PC, it's not a huge deal, but I am still quite curious as to what's happening here. Unless my PC blows up, my external HDD gets stolen, and the CD I burned everything to dissappears, I won't really have a problem, but I am sure at least a few of you guys understand how something like this just sticks in your head till you know WHY it's happening.

Anyway, thanks again...

Do you group items? That is, are there any groups of items used in your PCF? I've seen some problems of late with versions of a PCF that were propagated along from a time when there were problems using grouped items. Maybe the grouping is affecting your upload.
