I've programmed many pronto's and I never seen this problem before. Pronto TSU3000 right out of the box, it works fine but when I update the firmware to V3.9.8 I lose the backlight. I went through all the settings and I can't find anything. Unless i'm blind or maybe it's defective. I've seen 3 like that. I was wondering if anybody else had the same problem.

Mine did not go out with the firmware, but the back light would cut in and out. Is yours just perminately out? Are you sure it did not get jolted around when you did the firmware or did it just wake up from the load and the backlight never worked again? Have you tried reloading it?
As I have mentioned in other posts, the soldering in these is horrible at best. I resoldered most of the chips in mine and nothing has acted up since. I may consider a step by step disassembly with phots for the technically incline if it interests people.

I am getting really fed up with the almost non existent backlight on my RU950. I've just programmed a new device and so I need to be able to read the screen until I get used to the position of the buttons. I'm tempted to take my Pronto apart to clean it but I'm worried that I'll wreck it and a new one is £300 which I can't aford right now.
I'd really appreciate an idiot's guide on how to sort this problem out.
