I'm looking for the proper codes for the "Day-" and "Day+" functions to put into my TSU7000 to replicate the UR5-8400 remote on my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR/Cable box. I tried having the TSU7000 learn the codes directly from the other remote, but the codes don't work.

Also, anyone know of discrete On & Off codes for the 8300HD as well?

Thx,

Kevin

The following codes work on the SA 8000, and I suspect they will work on the 8300 as well:

Day +
0000 004E 0000 0018 00B2 00B2 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 07E2

Day -
0000 004E 0000 0018 00B2 00B2 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 0085 002C 002C 002C 0085 002C 07E2

I don't think there are discrete codes for the 8300. I have that box too and have done a search, and I don't think the codes exist.

I used to have an 8000HD. I now have the 8300HD. I searched long and hard for discrete codes for them, and haven't found them. As far as I know, they don't support discrete codes.

Did 411's codes not work?

I had this problem in the NYC region. Some codes can be learned "head to head" with the SA remote, others cannot. A few months ago I was politely instructed to check out the file section for 8300HD codes. They work fine.

In regard to discrete on/off codes for Scientific cable boxes and dvr's - forget about it - they do not exist. Depending on the software the box is running, you may have the option to designate a specific channel for power on, or a timer setting that wakes the box up at a certain time. Good luck.

yes, but you can create a good workaround for power on and off, if you are interested.

You have to go into one of the internal menus and make a few changes:

Get to the More Settings Menu of the Cable Box by pressing Settings twice
Scroll to Power on the More Settings Menu
Change the Power setting to “Power and Numeric”
Change the Power On setting to “Last Channel
When you want to use a discrete power on hit any number key (i.e. hit 0 and enter) this will power cable box on if it is off and ???? will flash where the channel appears in the onscreen channel banner, then it will return you to whatever the last channel watched was.

Then you can create a macro for Power Off: 0, Enter, then add a delay, then a Power command

This is one of those great workarounds. Once you know the unit is on, you can use Power to turn it off.

Interesting. I'll have to try the Power On/Off discrete workaround. I wonder how well they would work if the 8300HD happened to be recording two programs simultaneously?

What I actually do now is when I turn on my system (e.g. preamp, amp, projector, etc.), I always turn on my 8300HD, even though I don't plan on watching it. Later, I can switch from watching a DVD to the 8300HD knowing that it's already on. I leave the 8300HD on until I power off my system (whether or not I'm using the 8300HD). I also configured a timer in the 8300HD so that at a certain time every night (like 3:00 AM), I have it turn off automatically, just in case.

But, I'll have to try Dave's workaround.

Actually the workaround I use is

Power On:
0
Exit

Power Off:
0
Exit
[delay]
Power

By using Exit instead of Enter the box never tries to tune in channel 0, since it's still waiting for the next digit and Exit cancels the number you entered.

That workaround is the best (and simplest) I have seen. Good one Wrangler.

Scroll to Power on the More Settings Menu
Change the Power setting to Power and Numeric

Dave

I have the SA8000HD, but I haven't been able to locate the Power Setting choice listed above in the More Settings menu.

There is only one choice in the Power category and that is the one
I changed to last channel.

Any ideas?

Bah, I have an 8300HD and there is no "Power Setting."

Take a look at my file in Daniel's config files as I have basically the entire 8300HD programmed into my 3000. The 8300HD is a toad, but shouldn't represent any issue at all. I can fully control whether it needs to be on or off regardless of what I am doing at the time.

It depends on the options that your cable provider allows and whether they are using the motorolla or Sara menu systems. I'm using TWC in Charlotte and I have the option.
