I have a set of hitachi TV codes from hitachi.

Other posts state that Hitachi codes are NEC, but I am not sure.

At any rate, the document states that the code for discrete on is

50AF 3EC1

does that mean that the correct pronto code would be

6000 0000 0000 0001 50AF 3EC1

Or possibly

900A 006D 0000 0001 50AF 3EC1

note: the discretes on the "files" section of this site dont work or I would just do the easy thing

here is the link to the protocol

Yup. Should be:

900A 006D 0000 0001 xxxx xxxx

where the xxxx's are the characters from that document.

Did this work? Most of the codes I see in the discrete section are really long strings, do you have to modify this before pasting into ProntoEdit?

Pronto Hex has two formats (one of which is rare) for using a long string to describe the exact timing of an IR signal. All models of Pronto (and many non Pronto devices) can take pasted Pronto Hex in that form.

Pronto Hex has a bunch of formats, including the 900A format described in this thread, for using a shorter string to refer to some internal rule for reconstructing the timing and to give that internal rule the data it needs.

The shorter form is as good or better than the long form in all models that accept that short form, assuming of course that the IR signal you want to produce fits the pattern of the internal rule you are referencing. Hitachi codes definitely fit the pattern of 900A.

I have tried the above putting in the code 900a 006d 0000 0001 50af 3dc2 and it does not seem to do anything? The TV does not respond to it. Am I doing something silly? I go into the advanced tab and simply past the above?
Please help as this is driving me round the bend!

Craigja, please stop double-posting as it makes it hard for people who like to search to find answers to follow.
