On the RC5000, when jumping between Home, Device and Macro pages it would always remember where you were in each section so that you were returned to the same page from which you left that section.

Is it possible to replicate this behaviour on the NG models?

AFAICT, a 'Home' button always jumps to a specific page, as does any programmed 'jump' of course. Why on earth would Philips dispense with such useful functionality? Or am I wrong?

It does not remember which home page you were on. You have to use specific links.

You can use the Back command but that only goes back one page.

Unless the page you are going back to also has a back button. Then it will go back again. I haven't checked to see how many pages it remembers.

If it is like the old Marantz, 5 pages, on the other hand even though you are right (you can put back jumps on all pages) I don't think it helps someone wanting to jump to a particular home page by pressing "home"

let's say that HomeA jumps to dev1,dev2,dev5 and homeB jumps to dev3, dev4 you could make the home button in dev1,dev2,dev5 jump to homeA and dev3, dev4 jump to HomeB

and even more complicated if HomeA & homeB jump to dev6. you can copy dev6 and make homeA jump to Dev6A, and homeB jump to Dev6B

It only remembers 1 page.

Man I suck! I never new it copuld do that.. I wirte my programs to not use such but if I knew it could do that I think I might have a different user interface. Learn something everyday...

I use Back to..

I have a SetUp button for each device which can appear on multiple pages. This takes me to a page where I can change some of the less common settings for the device. I then use a button programmed with the Back action to take me back to the page where I was.

Maybe we're talking about different things but if I'm on my DSS keypad and I press the home button which takes me to my home page which has a back button. From the Home page I can press my devices page which brings up a page with jumps to all of my devices, this also has a back button. From here if I press back I go to the home page. If I press back again (from the home page) I go back to DSS keypad.

I guess the one page only remember 1 back jump but you can jump back several times at least.

That's pretty much my solution, but it is a somewhat limited simalcrum of the earlier Pronto behaviour. Previously, when moving between sections, or even devices, it would remember the page you were on in the the last section/device and return to that, without any fancy programming that in any case cannot entirely replicate what it used to do automatically.

Why do developers do this? NG has some great advances, but why drop the good stuff they already had? Sadly PENG ranks as the flakiest piece of software I've had to use in a ling time:-(

I don't blame developers. some stuff I agree makes no sense loosing it (like saving images or changing all similar images) but let's face it, the whole time in the Pronto forum people were asking for a back and for full screen and that is what they did. I think people don't tend to know what they want, and that makes it hard for developers.

I doubt that the way it used to work was ever deliberately designed that way. It was just a side effect.
