Hello forum!

I just got my Pronto and have been teaching it all my remotes.
I just ran into a problem however. After teaching it my PC remote (AST/Logitech) I went on to teach it my receiver remote. I then noticed that pressing the power button on my receiver remote closes all windows in WindowsXP. It seems like these two remotes share the same codes.

Is it possible to just upload some other codeset for some other remote (that does not share codes with my receiver) to the Pronto and use it with my PC and Girder?

If so, how do I know what each button will do?

TIA
Bernhard

do the original remotes cause a conflict when you use them?

Yes!

I have to keep the receiver remote underneath the coffee table to keep it from doing stuff on my PC!

as far as i am aware you cannot change this as the code it is expecting to see is written inside the hardware.

I think the answer is yes, but you need to ask people that know girder. If I am not mistaken with Girder you can use any codes you want. it just happens that someone used the same codes that are used by your receiver

Similar thing happens to me with my Maestro IR Dimmer remote and my MyHD 120 card in the PC. If I use the dimmer while I'm watching a file on the MyHD card, the card will fast forward through what I'm watching.

Annoying when that happens.

Wouldn't an easier solution be to just move the PC away from the receiver?

Well if you wanted to spend a little more money. You could try an IR system. That way the IR ports on your computer and receiver would be covered with electric tape.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I think my question was a bit diffuse. I've also learned a lot about my Pronto since I firste posted the question, so I will try to clarify my situation taking this into consideration.

1 My PC is in another room. but in order to maintain WAF I've put the receiver next to my other IR controlled gear in the HT. It's nice to allways point the remote in the same direction as the screen.

2 Girder will accept any IR codes. Basically you teach girder the codes and bind them to an action just as you do with the pronto.

What I would like to know is this. Can I just download the IR codes of some other remote, cross my fingers, and hope they differ from the codes from my other remotes? Can I then apply these codes to the buttons controlling my PC, teach them to Girder, and be happy? Or will I need to physically get hold of a different remote and teach my Pront its codes manually for this to work.
