Sorry if this has been asked before, but is the ProntoPro NG and it's software compatible with processors other than the Pentium line? I have been thinking of upgrading from my current P4 to a Athlon64 based machine, and I knew before that the software lists to be used with Windows OSs, but I didn't realize until I looked at the back of the unit's box that it also lists "Pentium" as a requirement. I don't remember this being mentioned in the user guide. So I am wondering if it will work with the Athlons. I am being recommended to purchase a Mac and use Virtual PC with it, but I don't think I would take that route..
Thanks.

PPENG works on a Mac with Virtual PC. But you CANNOT communicate with your Pronto using a Mac.

My next-door neighbor is Apple's developer responsible for writing communications drivers for Macs. I've asked hiom to play with PENG and Pronto. Although the software works mostly under Virtual PC, there are a few minor problems, and, as Peter pointed out, communications don't work. My neighbor says he suggested to Apple that he write a driver that would deal with Pronto, but apparently that is not a priority and they haven't green-lighted it.
No problem with Athlons. I have three Athlon-based machines, and it runs fine on all of them.

Hmm, too bad Apple doesn't have a Google-like 20% policy.
