Marantz in the UK have now stopped the 9200 I believe and have bought out the 9500. It really depends what you are after from the remote - if functionality is all you are after and dont need a load of memory and color is nothing major then get the 5400 - which still has 8mb memory but is greyscale as opposed to some stupid amount of memory in the 9500 which is colour
I have the 5400 and I like it, would have preferred the 9500 but couldnt justify the extra money just for a colour screen

On the flip side of that coin....
I have the 9500 and couldnt live with a B&W screen knowing colour was available :-)
I love it and would never look back!

You are much better geting a Pronto rather than a Marantz. Philips is continuing to improve the Pronto but Marantz appears not interested any more.
The choices are the 3000 (B&W) or 7000 (Color). The 7000 is absolutely worth getting.

Hogwash - Marantz will soon be releasing their new firmware update for the 9500.
In fact, there was a firmware update as recently as the 4th of April - available for download on Marantz Europes website.
Both are good remotes - both are supported - buy whichever you like and u wont be disappointed.

unfortunately the Philips isn't readily available at my preferred suppliers I am thinking the difference between the software on the 9200 and 5400 is not that great, and the colour sounds very cool!
Sadly I am aware of the 9500 - sadly because the 9200 has been marked down to the same price as the 5400, whilst the 9500 is double!
Am thinking now that the 9200 is the way to go, but a little nervous re the update situation...
Cheers and thanks guys :-))

There is only 1 known bug in the 9200 firmware. It's the "Macro Bug" you can find out more about it by searching the Pronto Forum. There will be no more updates to the 9200, however, it's pretty darned solid and I think you'll be happy with the larger screen and 256 colors. However, you DO NOT get tranparency capability as you do with the 5400 and 9500.

The 9200 was discontinued nearly 2 years ago.
Buy a Philips online - much cheaper than going through a shop.
