I am sure many of you have seen the refurbished 3000's on ebay for reduced prices. Should one be concerned with purchasing a refurbished unit? I can't decide if this is a smart idea or if I am just being cheap.

with everything ebay I guess it depends who you are buying it from and who did the refurbishing. But if they are reputable I don't see anything wrong with it. My sister bought a refurbished TS-1000 when they came out, and did not have any problems.

Hi
I think its safe to asume that if you buy from a responsable seller on ebay you wont have any problems. I bought my TSU7000 from a person on ebay and his feedback and amount of time as an ebayer was the deciding factor.
My Tsu7000 was new and un marked with a full warranty for 535.00. A screaming price. I think I was lucky to find it at that price. I was ready to pay 800.to 1000.00 Sometimes bargan hunting is fun initself.
Bottom line, ask questions and check out the sellers ,and email some of the sellers customers. If all sounds good, I think buying refurbished is a good way to go. Good luck, Jim

I bought my refurbished 3000 on ebay close to a year ago from ebay ($170). I also later bought a refurbished docking station ($50 I think). Both came in Philips boxes that said "refurbished" with no signs of them being opened. I have had no problems and very happy with both.
Just check the feedback of the seller, I don't buy from anyone unless their feedback is perfect or near perfect. If they have been selling bad products, their feedback will reflect it.

I bought one off ebay that was refurbished and had troubles with it. The back cover had broken clips and the battery was dead. Phillips took care of the problems. A week later then the remote froze up, so i sent it back(just the remote)as the told me to do. They sent a brand new one out with dock station, software, and with the new firmware already done. It was a little bit of a pain but, now i got 2 docking station, and 2 battery. One station near the computer and one on the coffee table. I paid $537 for a 7000 to the door.

Short story pro buying it:
A friend of mine bought refurbished ProntoProNG off of ebay (TSU7000/01) for 475$, it arived without accu, he had to ship it back to Philips (strange logic) for exchange and then he received brand new TSU7000/37 from them.
Not bad?

Purchased a tsu3000 about a year and a half ago from AVOutfitters. I found that they were in the same city (and zip code) that manufactures the Pronto and suspected they had a definite relationship.
Have had no problems at all with it. The remote appeared as new. I think that a lot of refurbs are just returns by folks who don't want to or know how to set it up...in essence, brand new remotes. The only disadvantage is the shorter warranty period, although if something like this is going to go bad, it usually happens within a short time.
I would have no fear of buying refurbs if the return and warranty policies met my satisfaction.

I purchased a refurbished TSU3000 last year off of ebay for 150.00 and it continues to work fine. I just purchased a refurbished TSU7000 a couple of days ago for 499.00 shipped to my door. I am waiting for it to arrive. It is scheduled to be at my door Monday. I think if you do your shopping and check out the seller's feedback you should be fine.

I just bought a TSU7000 from RefurbDepot.com for around $550 and it appears that either the base unit isn't charging the battery pack, or the battery pack is dead.

Either way it's defective.

I have brand new 7000's with full warranty, bundled with The Ultimate Pronto Guide and our Extended ProntoBattery (plus the original battery) for $699. Let me know if I can help.
