I tried downloading to the RU950 this morning but the download failed. Now starts on a screen saying "PHILIPS pronto" but I cannot navigate from this screen.

When I try downloading it says "The remote control is not connected to your computer"

Any help please

Open the back pannel with the unit still connected to the computer. Hit the reset button. This should fix the connecttivity issue... well that is if the issue is on the pronto side.

Happens a lot when learning codes to the unit.

That happens to me any time I unplug the USB cable to test the remote. I change to the second USB port on the laptop and it works OK.

You probably need to download a fresh copy of the firmware.

So get my Pronto going again and download my config all fine.

Go to bed, get up in morning and now on my notebook ProntEdit loads up my configuration and it is completely blank. Also same with other configs I have downloaded.

Sometimes it locks the app whilst loading. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ProntoEdit but get the same.

Copied the config file to my other PC and it works perfectly so it is something on this notebook.

Any ideas?

cheers

What Operating system? Should be using 2000 or XP only.

I have further discovered that it is when changing between standard and advanced mode that ProntoEdit crashes either when loading or when done from the file menu.

When loading if I choose not to change mode then it loads but is completely blank.

*score one for the 'search' function* :-)

I just had to do this. I was learning codes to the unit and the LCD backlight went out on me all of a sudden during a learn and the screen was showing part of the screen and was stuck. Snapped the lid off, pushed the reset button, and it's back to normal. I have the most recent firmware (the Pronto is new and actually came with the most recent firmware, though I did update it before I used it, with what turned out to be the same version), so I'm not sure what to say about this. Do it again? I'll keep this in mind if it happens again.

Glad to hear you got your remote unlocked. I had a problem similar to that and it was done. I had to send it back to Phillips and they sent out a new remote

I went ahead and reflashed the firmware and guess what happened? "CF is incorrect version or memory is corrupt". Tried resetting, rebooting the computer, everything. Nothing worked. It was half-full (two bars) as far as the battery goes, so I threw it on the charger while I slept as a last resort since I couldn't get that message to go away. I kept trying to do anything...nothing. Held in the reset button after I woke up, reflashed the firmware, choosing to keep the current config, and it worked first time. When I was flashing the firmware earlier, I kept prompting it to delete the config and use the default. You would think it'd have worked. So I'm in OK shape, again...
