There appears to be a new (minor?) update to the ProntoEditNG software. The version I downloaded after the March 2004 release of 2.0.6 does not match the one which is available here. That one is shown as 2.0.9.

Anyone know what the changes were between versions?

They've added the "improved IR code learning" that first appeared in ProntoProEdit NG v1.0.15 back in June.

Hi all,
don't upgrade if you use WinXP Pro SP2! Mine doesn't work anymore.
First you have to uninstall 2.0.6, then install 2.0.9 - BUT the Installer try's to install MDAC2.5SP2 which fails! As result you will get an PENG "cleaned" system, because if you try to re-install 2.0.6 you won't be able to install it. Good Job done by Philips :-((

I don't think SP2 in particular does anything to code learning, but general in-software learning CAN be a problem for some. It's usually suggested to download the file to the remote, learn there, then upload back.

Im a total newbie here and just got a TSU3000 and in the process or learning it. So I do not have much to offer yet, but I thought I offer my 2 cents to this thread. I just loaded the 2.0.9 on my machine with XP Pro and SP2 without any issues. Software working OK and code learning using the software is taking about 2-4 seconds for each code. I did not have any previous version of ProntoEdit installed as the 2.0.9 install was part of a complete rebuild after new hard drive install.

I would also like to say this is a great site and forum. I think the Pronto remote is one of the coolest remotes ever with the flexibility it offers. I am a regular visitor this site now!!

This solved my problem not be able to install PENG again...

At google type "windows xp 1919 error" you will find:
"Error 1919. Error configuring ODBC data source" error message.
------------------------------------------
Install Mdac.inf
1. Click Start, click Run, type C:\Winnt\Inf in the Open text box, and then click OK.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
3. In the Advanced Settings dialog box, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
4. Right-click Mdac.inf, and then click Install.
5. If you are prompted for your Windows CD, insert the Windows CD in your CD-ROM drive or in your DVD-ROM drive.
6. Locate the I386 folder on your hard disk (typically this path is C:\I386), click the folder, and then click OK.

NOTES

If you do not have the CD for your current Windows installation, click Browse, locate the I386 folder, and then select it.

If the I386 folder is a subfolder of the Windows folder, on some computers, you cannot select it. In this case, type the full path in the Copy files from text box (for example, type C:\Windows\I386 or C:\Winnt\I386), and then click OK.
7. Restart your computer.

Many thanks to Millard!!!
