Hi there,
I own a 7000 and an old 890, now the 890 is used in the bedroom where my Akai tv needs some discrete codes for `off` . Now I found the discrete codes in the 7000 libary but ofcourse this it not meant for Europe , so can anyone perhaps post (or mail) me the code from the ru-980 !! That would be great !!!

Thankx
Ronald

Why don't you just use your 890 to learn the code from the 7000?

Because in my 890 there are only Philips codes ....... I can`t find any codes for any other brand !!

The 890 does not have a built-in database. The 940 is the first model with a database.

You say that you have a 7000 and you have found the codes in the 7000 library that can operate your TV. Presumably, by library you mean the 7000's internal database.

So

1/ Put those codes into your 7000 and check that they actually work

2/ Then, all you need to do is point your 890's learning end at the 7000 and LEARN the codes from your 7000.

What I mean to say is that the codes in 7000 are meant for equiment in the usa and not in europe .... so the codes in the 7000 don`t work here (I think) !!! That`s why I`m looking for someone with an 980 so that hopefully those codes do work !! Ofcourse if someone can tell me where to find the discrete codes for my Akai tv that would be great too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The difference between the databases in the U.S. and international versions is simply that the U.S. database does not contain brands that are not sold in the U.S. As Akai is an international brand it should appear in both databases. If you see something that looks like it might be what you want, then just try it.
