I've prgrammed a ProntoNG to use with a Linn Classik Movie (not Di) everything is fine except...

1. There is apparently no discreet codes for the TV input and Aux input.
2. To resolve issue 1 I have constructed a macro to repeatedly press the aux button until the TV input is selected starting from DVD. This works fine. But, to select Aux from DVD two presses of the Aux button are required. If I use the Linn handset the first press shows "disk" on the front display of the Classik, the second press toggles on to Aux. This works fine when done manually on teh pronto but as soon as I put it into a macro the linn skips on to the tape input (the next input in the sequence).

I've tried pressing a macro with enough presses of the aux button to toggle right through the sequence and back to aux but it still skips on to tape. I am making my first action the DVD button so I have a constant start point, but it seems that selecting Aux is impossible with a pronto!!!

I've had very long conversations with Linn (being a Linn retailer helps me have access to all sorts of resources) but they are saying if it works with the Linn handset then it must be a problem wth the pronto.

So, any ideas anyone? Has anyone else programmed for a Classik Movie?

Firstly make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

Are your learned codes 'clean'?

Have you experimented with delays between your actions?

By the way, 'toggle' means switching between two states. What you are doing is 'cycling' through the inputs.

Hi,
If the extra delays between your actions doesn`t do the trick , it might be that the pronto does `that enough time` to send out the codes ... Let me try to explain, I think (and someone correct me if I`m wrong) that when put in to a macro the pronto only has a certain amount of time to execute the code , no matter how long it is .......I had the same problem with an X-10 macro `direct on eg.7` was to long so I had to make it `eg. 7` , delay and then `on` ....................Hope it was helpfull

Checked the firmware and it is the latest available on the Philips wesite.

Yes.

I have to a certain extent. I began with 1 second and now have 2 second delays. I have a simlar macro that selects the TV input which requires 5 presses of teh "aux" button and uses 2 second delays between each press. This works so i have assumed that 2 seconds is ok.
By the way, 'toggle' means switching between two
states. What you are doing is 'cycling' through
the inputs.

I knew toggle wasn't the right word but you know what it's like when you are searching for the right term and it just seems to ellude you.

Post the Pronto Hex for the command that has this problem. I'm pretty sure it can (and should) be edited to send a shorter signal.

From your symptom description, I think that function sends a longer signal when used in a macro than when used manually. The Linn must vary the length of time it takes to switch inputs depending on which input it is switching to, so that if it finishes switching to an input and then sees it is still receiving the switch input command it switches again.

the code I'm using is...

5000 0000 0000 0001 0010 0024

which was supplied by Linn as a discreet code for the Aux input.

That wrecks my theory about what is happening.
Now I don't understand enough about what you're describing.
You have discrete codes for some inputs?
Linn supplied that command as a discrete for aux?
But it doesn't work as a discrete?
Instead it sort of works as "next input" cycling through the inputs?
But used in a macro it skips the input you want?

I did a search for similar commands in all the CCF files I have downloaded. That command you quoted isn't in any of them. They have discrete input selects for other inputs, that probably match what you already have.

I have a ccf file for what I think is your exact model and it shows:

5000 0000 0000 0001 0010 0018 Aux Input
5000 0000 0000 0001 0010 001E TV Input

I'll try that out thanks jarmstrong. Interestingly enough I have been given the address 10 command 18 code as a "toggle" / cycle button.

Thanks guys for your help.
