I have been using a TSU1000 for several years to control the following system:

Denon AVR 5700 Receiver
Denon DCM 560 CD Player (Remote No. RC-239)
Denon DVD 5000 DVD Player (Remote No. RC-540)
Mitsubishi HS-0775 VCR (Remote No. RM 75501)
Mitsubishi CS 35505 TV (No ID number on remote)
Dish Network 501 Receiver
X-10 Light Control
Cable connection using VCR tuner
Xantech IR extender installed

Tomorrow I should be getting a Pronto Pro TSU7000 and Philips RFX 6000 so I'm trying to get a jump on things. I've downloaded ProntoProEdit and played with it a bit. It doesn't seem to have evolved much since I developed my system years ago. Hmmmm. Wonder what that says? Could be good? Could not be good.

Once I got the TSU1000 functional I didn't make many changes to it so my wife would not have to learn anew. Consequently, the Dish 501 is not functional on the 1000. Hre's the rub.

Just to fill in the background, I normally use a Macintosh (PowerBook G4, 15" for anyone who cares) but I do have access to a very old and tempermental Dell (1998 vintage) Laptop. So, on to the questions.

1) Has anyone programmed a TSU7000 using a Macintosh running OSX and Virtual PC? Theoretically it should work, I think. Are there any tricks? ProntoProEdit seems to be running just fine and I have downloaded a couple of the contest winner files and they run fine, as well. Of course I can't connect to the TSU1000 because I don't have a serial connection on this new machine. USB to the 7000 should work, I suspect.

2) Does anyone have the remote codes (I know there's a better name than that but it eludes me, perhaps CCF) for the CD, VCR, DVD, and TV listed above? Discrete codes too?

3) Is there any way to take a file prepared for the TSU1000 and use it on the 7000?

4) Any guidance on breaking your wife in on a new remote?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. I just retired (part time-can you do that?) and need something other than the many items on my wife's lists to keep me thinking.

1/ You can run the editor on a Mac, but you cannot communicate with your 7000.

2/ You already have all your codes in your 1000. You can import your CCF into PPENG then change the graphics to nice color ones.

3/ See (2). However, all you will keep is the IR Codes. You can use much simpler navigation with the 7000 as you have more sceen space and hard buttons.

4/ Put a color photo as the background.
