Hi, relatively new to the community. I have toyed with the TSU2k and the 500's, the TSU3k's seem a little less "customizable" perhaps is the word.

I was hoping to get some information on the following:
1: I want to be able to disable or HIDE the TOOLS hard button
2: And I was wondering if there was anyway to hide the main page, the one that shows all the devices, and just show a macro page for turning on components like I could with a TSU2k.

Any thoughts would be welcomed,
Thanks

There is no way to disable the TOOLS button at this time. Nor is it possible to do anything with the far right/#4 button as well.

Why don't you to edit the main page, so that it will show the macros or whatever you want to do.

The tsu3000 is the first in the pronto line not to have a macro side. So it's gonna be weird working with it.

Since I don't have the remote, probably won't for a while. I wouldn't know how to hid a panel a this time. Seeing that I just tried to open PENG, and it did. But some things were missing. Which isn't much of a surprise, since there are alot of bugs in it, and in the remote.

1. No not yet the outer 2 buttons are not active. Philips says a firmware update will activate them. What people are doing is overlaying the bottom of the screen with a custom bmp to cover the default buttons with a bmp you can name yourself.

2. No way to hide it but it just shows up on reboot. It is not the default home page for the remote. Archer I believe came up with the best work around. Create a new first device named start, begin or something like that. This page just has a copy of your "home" page in it. Delete all but one button on your device overview template, add any graphics you want to the device overview screen and you have a "welcome page" that is only shown on reboot.

Thanks to both of you... I just wrote the post not 5 minutes ago :)

Yeah, I found a way to overlay like my company logo and name like a label bar over the bottom buttons. I just know that it's going to be a temp fix because sooner or later I am going to want to use them for clients :)

As for the welcome page, not a bad idea, I was kicking something similar around, but not having the exp with this stupid thing (trying to make myself more in-dis-pens-able [sorry can't speill]) and I didn't want to ruin the two hundred dollar remote that ain't mine LOL

Thanks again,
G

Oh, and one more thing if I am not being too greedy with the help, what the h$ll does it do when you set a device as a template? I can't seem to figure that out

When you set a device as a template, you can create a copy of it by going to Tools -> Add -> Add new device. Now, you can see ur device which you have defined as a template.

Having worked with the TSU 1000 and the RC 5200 and also having created a few pretty fancy CCF's I am of the opinion that the best way to deal with the TSU 3000 is to work with it, rather than against it.

The device overview page, the page which is displayed upon reboot, can also be displayed by touching the device overview button at the top of the screen. To create device selection macros you simply put the appropriate macros in the device action section of the device properties page. You can keep devices from showing up in the device overview by setting them to "hidden" in the device properties page. To select devices w/o sending the associated macro just use the device right/left buttons at the top of the screen, or provide your own device selection buttons(say for amp, tv or power -- like I did).

What I'm trying to say is don't fight the new interface. Use you imagination. Navigating in between screens with the page up/down rocker is much easier than it was in the old days. Having so many hard buttons means that you only need 1 or 2 screens for most devices (the most I have is for my CD-R since it requires different codes for every function for deck A and deck B). There is no need for tabbed interfaces anymore. Give it a try -- don't try to duplicate your TSU [12]000 interface -- be innovative.

Some very good thoughts folks. I agree with Sully, you do have to think "outside the box" for this new device.

I have used one of Archer's backgrounds that completely hides the 4 hard buttons at the bottom and hides all of the system info at the top. He even put a small "scallop" at the top edge of the screen, so the IR signal shows through, but not the whole device. This way the whole screen is your canvas. I made some small square buttons for the bottom hard buttons and it looks very good and is not that much work once you know what you want to use the bottom buttons for.

I have uploaded my .pcf this weekend, to Daniel. I suspect he will put it in once he has enough .pcf's.

Send an email to me at ddarche@pacbell.net and I will share a zip .pcf

Wow, I didn't even think about the ability to cover up the bottom and top portions of the screen. Thanks for the advice guys.

Yeah, you can cover those up, as a matter of fact, I just grabbed a ss of PENG and cropped it down to the tools button, then I filled it in to look like the others, then just added it as a panel and coverd up the tools.

Alot of the information on the overview page can be set by PENG as to whether or not it shows, like the left and right arrows, the time and date, battery power, etc.

Things are actually coming along nicely with the config I am trying to create right now, as soon as I get it finished, I will get it posted.
