The only reasons I've seen are (in order):
1) Dropping it. The original Prontos really hate to be dropped, even softly.
Yeah. Two years ago I dropped a TSU6000 about a foot, not softly, and it ruined my day and my client's week while I got a replacement. Oh, yeah, my profit margin on the job got hurt quite a bit, too.
2) Power problems (bad/weak battery). The original Prontos really hate power problems, which is the main reason behind #1.
3) Failing memory. It's happened.
Simultaneously with two remotes?
I seem to recall that sometimes a bad CCF file can cause the remote to reboot, but I don't recall that going hand-in-hand with reverting, which happens because the Pronto thinks the main CCF is corrupt.
Did these problems also occur with the RC5200s?
