I know this has been asked a million times but i have looked through the forum and have still not found a solution and im at my witts end. I am using Mac OSX and have tried tonto to no avail. I now have windows XP running in vmware and am trying to connect to my pronto using rc setup.

I have managed to use the standalone firmware updater to update the firmware and all went smoothly but i cannot seem to get rc setup to talk to my pronto. Can anyone suggest anything? Im using a USB to Serial converter i got on Ebay. Surely if the firmware updater worked then RC setup should be fine also.

Please please help, ive had this remote in storagr for 6 years already and only just unboxed it. im ready for throwing it out if this carries on lol.

Bingo! The only one I've heard of on these forums that always works is the Keyspan adaptor.

You'd think, but it ain't necessarily so.

Please throw it at me if you decide to throw it. And if you keep it, be ready to get a new battery soon.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Check the FAQ, please :-) Other users have posted recently about luck they've had with converters other than Keyspan, particularly on Windows 7 or Vista.

Ooops, FAQ does not list a model, just a vendor. My sincere apologies.

Set Keyspan to emulate COM1.
