Can anyone help,
I'm trying to remote control a ROTEL reciver/tuner (RX-950AX) from my computer, using ProntoEdit 4 with an IrDa (infrared on usb) !!
I know that ProntoEdit is normaly used for editing panels and commands for advanced remotes with LCD screen and can transmit data to and back from a remote ... bat is it possible to use ProntoEdit together with IrDa as remote by itself to control my ROTEL ...?

Not likely. I'd try posting your request in the Custom Installer's Lounge to see if they've any suggestions on controlling ROTEL.

Try here :-

http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/

It is not the ProntEdit route you would have liked but it looks quite interesting and may be of some use!

From the Getting Started/Quick Overview section, it would appear that you must Learn IR codes from remotes and store them into the .cf files. These .cf files are then used to send named learned commands out of the IR xmitter by specifying a remote configuration and a code.

Fairly simple except that it would appear that you must learn all the codes manually or find some utility somewhere that can convert from Pronto Hex IR Format into commands for the .cf files.

AND

For clarity and to avoid any confusion here, please edit your original post and change the subject line to "Need Help With WinLIRC" as this has NOTHING to do With ProntoEdit. You might also find some help in other forums such as the PDA forum.
