Doesn't sound like firmware, but it wouldn't hurt to reflash the firmware and see if it helps. Alternatively, try putting some fresh AA batteries in the remote and see how it operates.

I understand, but trying AA batteries would probably confirm whether or not the problem is with the rechargable battery/charger or in the remote itself (if the AA's don't correct the problem).

Before I tried the AA's, I still reflash the firmware to see if that clears things up.

Doesn't sound like firmware. Sounds more like a battery problem (failing?) or a charger problem (providing insufficient power?)

As Jim says, trying running the remote with AA batteries. Also, you can try REMOVING the battery completely and checking if the remote will function properly while docked on the station and getting power solely from it.

I had a similar problem. It seems the contacts on the battery were dirty or the battery was not seated well in the remote. When I removed and replaced the battery, and cleaned the contacts and allowed it to charge up the problem was solved.

BTW is there any way to know if the battery is indeed charging? The light on the dock will come on even if there is no battery in the remote. Therefore if the contacts are dirty you have no way of knowing that the battery is not charging.

I went home last night, took out the recahrge battery and put it back in and things seemed to be ok for a while but hen it happened again.
I will go home tonight, and clean both the gold bits on remote and docking station.
