I need a new remote that can send both IR and RF. The reason being is that most of my equipment for my bedroom (sat dish and dvd) are down in the basement home theater. I like the look of a clean installation in my bedroom instead of having wires all over the place. Can anyone help me?

While there are many remotes that send both IR and RF, there are NO remotes that will learn RF codes and control RF devices. Although that seems strange, the RF in these remotes is ONLY used to transmit an IR signal (through walls/floors) to an "extender" which retransmits the codes in IR format to your gear.

Some remotes that will accomplish this include Pronto 3000/6000/7000, Marantz 5200/5400/9200/9500, and many Home Theater Master remotes. You WILL need to purchase the "RF extender" since it's usually optional equipment. This does add one very small extra box to your setup. Philips has just released a new RF Extender (the 6500) which replaces the 6000.
