I recently acquired a 'new to me' RC5200 dock to replace on that had gotten fried by lightening. However, it doesn't seem to be charging my battery pack. The lights turn bright when setting the remote in the dock, but after several hours of charging, I have no life in the remote.

In examining the dock closely, I noticed that the metal contacts at the bottome of the dock have something unusual about them. The left-most contact pin (the one furthest left of the group of 2) is set into the dock a little further than the remaining pins.

Can anyone look at their dock and tell me if this is normal, or could this be the reason I'm failing to charge?

Thanks,
Brad

Don't see that on my DS9500 dock, however the pins ARE spring loaded... I would also look into the possibility of a battery failure.

I like Daniel's suggestion. If the remote works when it is in the cradle and the lights are on, but dies when you remove it, the battery has no charge...but the voltage is getting into the battery when it is in the cradle. That makes it look like a bad battery.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I should note that I've had a number of these Pronto AAA packs fail myself.

Yes. I figured that the battery pack may be part of the issue as well. I bought a new one and it charged right up with the 'suspect' docking station.

So...all is well!

Thanks for the input, everyone!
