I just bought serial cable to replace the original one that I lost. On the advise from the FAQ's I bought the Kodak pc cable. My problem is that I can't upload or download files into or out of my pronto. I have a Belkin serial to USB converter as my computer does not have any serial ports. One other thing is that I can update the firmware with no trouble at all. I would love to be able to program my remote. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike.

Could be that you have not activated your Pronto just before you do a download.

Do you mean touch the screen to make sure it's on? If so, I have done that. The message that I get is that comm 1 is open, but RC is not responding.
Thanks,
Mike.

Is the USB adaptor configured in its drivers to use COM1? Or is that maybe an IR port on a laptop?

It's not an IR port on a laptop. I belive that my adaptor is set to com1, but I'm not 100% sure. How do I configure the adaptor to COM1? The error message just says that COM one is open, and the remote is not responding.

Does anyone have any ideas?

How do I configure the adaptor to COM1?

If you are using a USB to Serial adapter then try the settings on the disc that came with your adapter to set the comm port. I had to do this for a xantech remote once.

Thanks for the response. I tried to uninstall and then reinstall the orginal software, but it does not give me an option to pick a comm port. I then went into my device manager, and picked comm 1. When I tried to download into the remote I had the same result. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm almost ready to sell this thing.........
Thanks again,
Mike.

You might have to try a different USB port on your CPU

OK!!!!
I finally figured the problem out. It was the adapter. For some reason my belkin FSU409 did not work with my computer(Windows XP). So I decided to give it one more try and I went out and bought the Keyspan USA-19HS. It worked like a charm. Alrighty then, I'm back in the game. I almost felt like throwing this thing against the wall......

That's why there's an FAQ.
