I'm trying to build a discrete IR database for the new E2 Escient Fireball products. Escient has provided the key codes for a full discrete command list ([Link: escient.com]). I, however, am a novice to the world of RC6 mode 6A protocol. Escient has provided me with this info:
Company Code: 32790
Address = 1
and RC6 key codes such as: 43h and 1Ch

After selecting RC6 mode 6A in the advance menu of the Pronto Edit IR screen, I assume the company code goes into the "Customer Code" field, but how do the Escient values (address=1 and key codes) fit into the Pronto Edit "System" and "Command" fields? I get and error message "Please enter an integer"/

Thanks in advance

I'm also a novice when it comes to RC6, but my guess is you need to first convert the key codes from hex to decimal, using the Windows calculator in scientific mode.

For instance, 43h and 1Ch correspond to 67 and 28 decimal.

Nice of Escient to publish their codes, if only all companies would do this!

Good luck,
Michael

Yes, address and key code are system and command. The command does need to be converted from hex to decimal.

That sounds like the answer. I'll be sure to upload the .ccf file once I'm done. Thanks for the info!

fweasel,
have you completed your CCF? if so, where can I find it? I'm really anxiuous to try this out, and I am having a lot of trouble getting my tunebase 200 to work with my marantz RF extender.. there seems to be a lot of "junk" in the escient IR codes when I learn them from the remote - the RX-77 flashes like crazy and much longer than usual..
thanks for any help!

Have you checked Escients web they have CCF files for most of their equipment available in the support section. I am sure you should be able to get started.

I tried the CCFs from escient's site (and some CCFs sent to me from escient). All the IR from the escient CCFs is learned from the escient remote, which seems to contain a lot of, for lack of a better word, junk. By way of example, when the RX-77 receives a code from any other device, it flashes three times to indicate that it has received the RF. But, when I send it escient codes, it goes crazy and will only accept a few commands at a time and then will "lock up" until it stops flashing. I am hoping that the RC 6 codes are "cleaner".. but, who knows?
