Was wondering if anyone could help me out, I've had my RC5000 for about 6 months now and after a while I got a little complacent with it. Sure enough, dropped and cracked the thing to hell a couple of weeks ago and finding it hard to live without :(

I know there's a couple of retailers in the US that do them but their shipping cost means I'd be as well getting a new one. There's a guy from here that sells them on Fleabay and ships to the UK for $6 but unfortunately he's all out atm.

So has anyone got any spare? Oh, and I'm ashamed to say it but despite the warning on the joey6 site for disassembly, I managed to scratch across a few of the lines on the PCB! I take it I'd be able to re-bridge these somehow? I know, I'm a walking disaster!

TIA :)

LOL
I guess the user name says it all.

Hopefully, you'll be able to bridge the traces with some solder. However, if the gap is too large, you might consider using wire-wrap wire (40 guage) and soldering directly between the 2 connected components.

If you are uncomfortable doing this, by all means, get an estimate from an electronics repair shop.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in reply, seems the email notify isn't on.

Shoe, just about to drop you a line :)

Lyndel, yeah, I know - usually I'm known as 'Goof' for no other reason than it goes with my surname, but on this occasion that was warranted! I'm not sure if I'll attempt the solder, I only just tried soldering for the first time this week (speaker wire ends) and my skills left a lot to be desired!

I suggest asking an experienced friend to do it or take it to a shop. I've been soldering for many years and can do wonders with a 25 Watt iron and desoldering braid. However, the Pronto is like a child, your "baby", and I'm not sure I'd even crack that open.

Yeah Lyndel, I decided I wouldn't do it almost immediately - there's actually a score across 6 lines and I managed to make a mess of the speaker cable, so this job is a no-no. I'll take it to a local repair place and ask nice ;)

Shoe's helping me out with a well priced screen so hopefully I'll be all set!
