the number is for customer service, and they know absolutely nothing about it, they told me they would be happy to send it to me if they had heard about it, she checked with her superviser several times, and they were clueless, so I guess this was a false alarm....

"You can call 888-486-6272 to order the cable."

I just got this number from Philips. Here is the email address that sent it from their Tech Support.

Hi,
I also called the number listed and got a similar response....

I know it's been posted that Philips will send cables to registered Pronto owners (I registered online at the Philips site), but I thought I would ask how they would be completing the cable distribution (i.e., how & when & to whom).

I asked if Philips would be using information submitted on the online registration form or if a separate E-Mail, letter or some other communication would be required. The Customer service individual said, "well, we won't be sending them to everybody.....but yeah, I guess we will be doing sometihing like that.....which online registration form are you talking about?"

Surprizingly, he then asked for my Pronto serial number which lead me to believe he had some listing available to him. I asked if he could cross reference my name as I didn't have my Pronto serial number handy. He said yes, but after a long pause, he replied, "...well, I'm not finding it here...."

Good thing the cable is cheap and easy to make as I don't plan on receiving one from Philips until well after I have already tweeked my Pronto with a downloaded copy of ProntoEdit and a Radio Shack cable.

Well, I too called the number because I want one of those damn cables and am not techie enough to build one myself (and hell, I paid $400 for a remote that should come with a cable and software).

She answered and said they wont be out till the end of the month. When i asked her if I needed to call back or if there was a list on which I could get my name, she said "sure there was a list" and I could do either.

Suprisingly she took all my information plus my phone number and told me she would call me when they came in. She said the software was the same deal and that they had let it out just to let people know it was out there...

Will be interesting to see if she actually calls me. If not, i will hound them to death until I see channel icons on the TV screen on my Pronto Remote.

:)

I don't care about Philips promise, I just want a cable....I don't really care about the cost either.

Does anyone know where I can go to get a cable and what do I ask for once I get to the store?

Thanks

Call Jack Shultz at Metronet. His number is all over this site. He has made an incredibly generous offer to send out cables.

I just received a phone call from Philips. I gave them my number to call me when they had info on the cables. They told me that the cables should be in their warehouse next week and depending on how long it takes them to then get them out, it could be four weeks, (I don't think it will really take that long, you know they tell you four you get it in two, you are really happy they beat their estimates....) She also said that the software should ship with the cable, and didn't think it would be on the website, (but that was just her guess)

We have now manufactured in house, 100% tested, and shipped cables to all existing Pronto clients. All Prontos shipped as of today ship with cables. Our goal was/is to makw sure that our clients are ready when ProntoEdit is released.
Cables are available for sale at a cost of $10USD + freight flavor of your choice.
I only offer this for those who don't wish to wait to receive a cable from Philips. The cost is pretty much what it costs me after production, testing and packaging.

Craig,

It should have gone either yesterday or today. I'll check tomorrow and if it didn't, it'll go on Monday. You were on the list so the prior should be true but it never hurts to check as we sent many many boxes out these past few days.

Chris mentioned that Philips said the software would not be on their web site. Can anyone confirm this or not? I am assuming this lady just didn't know what she was talking about eventhough she should since after all she does work for the company. I have seen so many threads wondering about when the software is going to be online and now somebody from Philips says it won't be there at all! What gives?

As far as I know there has not been a change of plans and you will be able to download the software.
