Over the last year or so the screen on my Pronto TS1000 started suffering from really uneven contrast. It was starting to get very dark and blotchy at the edges, and in other parts of the screen. This made it difficult to set the contrast at a level where eveything would be clear... either being too dark or light in particular areas of the screen.
I managed to pick up a brand new LCD replacement from a guy who has sold a number of them on eBay. The new one only ended up costing me $30 (anything up to $45 seems to be the going rate on eBay), and I've just finished installing it.
As the FAQ mentions, it's not too difficult to do... you just need to take your time and be careful with arranging things.
I'm pleased to report that the new screen is a huge improvement... it's as good as new again. I was considering throwing out the unit before this upgrade, so it's $30 well spent.
The unit powered up, and the contrast was nice and even again. All I needed to do was re-calibrate the touch screen, which was initially a little off... but it's perfect now, and equally responsive to touch as the one it replaced.
The new part# was UG-24U01-WGHT3-M, while the part it replaced was UG-24U01-WGHT3-B.
Thought I'd share...

Huey, Read your post about replacing your lcd screen on your Pronto TS1000 and am unable to locate the guy you purchased it from on ebay. I have a Marantz 5000 with a broken screen from putting my elbow in it. If possible, could you direct me to this individual or some other repair facility. I have searched everywhere and am unable to get it repaired. Would appreciate yours or anyone's help with this... thanx.............sparkieg

Yes, an eBay search for "pronto screen" will take you there. The person I purchased it from was Bruce Sovereign (bsovereign). I believe he has ~20 left. Seems to have a few on auction at any one time. There are other sources there also, so even if he runs out it seems eBay is a good place to get them.
Hope this helps.

I`ve just sent bsovereign a question about shipping to the UK and does he have any buy it now options. Replied today $40 plus $6 shipping. Not bad going. He said he has 8 left by the way. Well worth getting to have as a spare.
