I'm having a problem with Pronto X-10 commands in an action list. I'll attempt to explain it here.

I downloaded Chris Couture's X-10 Complete CCF (thank you Chris) and incorporated these panels into my own CCF. I use X-10 to control a wall switch for my overhead lights, a lamp module for (go figure) a LAMP, and a 2 pin appliance module for my JBL sub. I made an X-10 panel for the lights and subwoofer, and the buttons on this panel alias the buttons on Chris' X-10 panels. All of the commands on my X-10 panel work properly. I can turn lights on/off/bright/dim and can power the sub on/off.

I wrote a "Watch DVD" macro (action list really) that includes the X-10 command to turn on my sub. The action in the macro is an alias to the sub power ON button, which in turn is an alias to Chris Couture's X-10 panels. Every command in the macro executes except the X-10 sub power ON alias. I have moved this alias around in the action list, put delays on either and both sides of the sub power ON command, but it will not work in the macro. I also have a "System Off" macro which is supposed to turn everything off. Again the same problem: all the other commands execute fine, but the X-10 subwoofer command does not work. Is there a problem with "double-aliasing" on the Pronto? What am I doing wrong here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is frustrating me!! Thanks.

No problem with "double aliases", works fine. I can't tell from your post, where exactly did you add the delays? You should put delays between every alias to the X-10 commands in your "sub power ON button". Not on your "Watch DVD" button. You need to provide time for the module to react to the several X-10 commands, and the delays need to be in the 2nd level macro, not the master macro. Sorry if that's what you did, just couldn't tell from the post.

Hey Jim. . . Thanks for the response.

My "sub power ON" button already contains a delay between the X-10 unit and function commands. Specifically, the action list for the sub power ON looks like:
[B] X-10 "Unit 3" (aliased to Chris Couture's panel)
[D] 0.2 sec
[B] X-10 "ON" (aliased to Chris Couture's panel)
This sub power ON button I created works fine on its own, as well as my sub power OFF button. But when I alias the "sub power ON" or "sub power OFF" buttons form a macro action list, they do not work. But every other command in my macro list works. I even attempted delays in the top level macro to see if I could get the X-10 commands to work, but no luck.

I guess I will just have to alias the whole X-10 unit and function sequence from the top level macro. Not that big of a deal, but it just had me frustrated. Thanks agin for the input.

Sometimes when sending discrete commands in a macro you must send the command twice with no intervening delay. (I have found this particularily true with Sony.) I notice that Chris did this in some of the macros he has in his ccf file. Look for example at his Unit 3 On and Unit 3 Off macros.

I am in the process of programming my own X-10 system but have not yet worked out the details.

Please post what you find out.

martias,

Normally I'd suggest increasing the delays in the sub power On button. But since it's working as an individual button, I'm stumped.

I've never heard of what pisaacson is talking about. None of my Sony gear requires repeating discrete codes in my Marantz 9200. But... just 'cause I ain't seen it -- doesn't mean it ain't so. Might be worth a try. Come to think of it, I did need to program macros with a double discrete power on or double discrete power off code to get my wife's Sony TV to work reliably. But this was with an Mx-500, not my Marantz. So who knows.

OK - it was a case of "head up my ass" syndrome on my part. The X-10 "sub power ON" command works fine in the macro. I have 2 panels that look very similar and only updated one of them to contain the X-10 command. Of course, that wasn't the one that I was using when testing the system. Hence the X-10 command did not execute becuase it WASN'T THERE! Anyway, thanks for everyone's input. The only real problem that existed was my stupidity.
