I have a Marantz AV9000 and recently purchased a Denon DVD-2900 and am using the Direct inputs on the Marantz for SACD and DVD-A.

Problem being that you can turn on the Direct Input via IR, but the only way to turn it off is to press the same IR code again. This gets confusing to other users of my system, everything else in my system is automated and would like to automate this as well. I would like 6 Channel direct on and off seperatly.

TIA

Okay, I'm being picky but there are two of these threads in a row right now!

"Discreet" means it won't tell on you if you are misbehaving slightly.

"Discrete" means it has separate parts for separate things, such as ON and OFF as separate commands instead of POWER that turns it on, then turns it off, then turns it on....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

No it does not... the 6 channel direct mode is a toggle on/off function...

I was stating a fact matt......... The codes cannot be "Created" unless you want to take apart yur AV9000, Find the Control chip...... Pull it.... and then Reprogram the chip somehow to include the new Codes for On and Off of the 5.1 input.

Well, ok....sorry

But, it's not really 5.1..that's a digital format...this is 6 discrete analog channels.

What is wrong with you? 5.1 INPUT is NOT a surround format digital or otherwise. It IS a 6 channel analog input as you say..... Right Front, Center, Left Front, Right rear, Left Rear, and SUB (the .1 Channel)

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 6CH INPUT and 5.1 INPUT!

Its just a different way of saying the same thing.

And discrete codes still dont exist, and cannot be created.

I guess I was refereing to the 6 channel input to keep clear that I was using the ANALOG inputs for SACD not a Coaxial/Optical input for DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1 digital surround sound.

Oh yeah, one more thing, calm down man. It's only a forum.

Perhaps I had too much coffee yesterday....... It just seemed you were not open to the fact that the codes didnt exist nor could they be created....

and I was also the second person you "Corrected" on the terminology..........

Yeah, things can be mis-interpreted on a forum. So no, I believe they don't exist, but, I'm still hoping to find a code that will allow me to revert to some state other than 6 channel direct. But, I don't think so. I've pressed every button on the front panel with no luck.

I don't have the original remote anymore, I borrowed it to my bro after I bought my pronto, and he lives 5 hours away...

Thanks for the posts!
