Hey all,

I am currently in the market for a rear pro TV and have narrowed my choices down to a Sony KPFW46M31, Panasonic TX-47P800H, or Hitachi C47-WD5000-751 (Australian models). I dont want to get caught out again with a TV that doesnt have discrete codes for power on and off, and input selection, when using my Philips Pronto. Could anyone offer some advice/or knowledge as to which way I should go when picking one of these.

Thx,

Paul

I'm in the UK, but from experience Sony has the codes you're after... Why don't you program them into your remote then test them in the store..?

I'm not sure if Australian models use different codes. But out of the brands you mentioned (here in the US) Sony has the most discrete codes.

I just bought an Hitachi 5000 series plasma (in Australia) which has discrete codes for on, off and each video input. The previous model did not have discrete codes.

The best advice I can give is to ask to see the remote. Look for a separate button for on, a separate button for off, separate buttons for every video input and anything else you need to have discrete. Try them out to make sure they do what they say.

This guarantees you have discrete codes and it also means you don't have to hunt around for codes as you already have them on the remote.

Thx everyone.....

Yeah sounds prety right to me Sony seems to support discrete fairly well. Disappointed as really like the look of the Panasonic, and its picture.....but Panasonic doesn't seem to support discrete codes much (my current Panasonic hasnt got them either!)
How hard are they to hack (I wouldnt know where to start).

I'll go into the stores and check out remotes as suggested. Thanks again
