Has anyone had or seen the problem of a TSU2000 and the recharging base arcing and frying the pins? I've got a customer whose had two of them do this in about a years time. They tell me that all they did was sit it on the charger. Any thoughts? Thanks

It's been mentioned here a couple of times. It is possible to set the remote on the charger and cross the contacts. It's not easy to do, never happened to me in 3+ years, but it is possible. I suspect that's one of the reasons the 6000 and next generation remotes use a different charger.

I have seen it happen quite a bit. We send them back for repair/warranty, or just tell the people to use AA batteries if they don't want to buy a new one, etc.
I would guess about 1 out of 12 have had this problem.

It's operator error.

Of course they can put the batteries in correctly, but they don't put the remote on the charger correctly.

What I do is to set the remote on the charger, and move it around slightly making sure the two stubs at the top of the charger are inside the holes on the buttom of the remote. Same goes with the other end of the remote.

This is an easy thing to do.

This very thing has happened to me twice. Its very easy to do, if the remote is even the slightest off center this can happen. The only thing I can suggest is to be extremely careful setting your remote on the charger. I personally feel it’s a pretty major flaw in the design that this sort of thing can even happen.
