I am trying to set up a macro that will change the A/V channel on my TV according to whether I am watching SKY or a DVD. The problem is my TV only automaticly switches to whatever source is connected to A/V1 and to switch it back to normal tv tuner viewing I have to press the A/V button another 5 times. It is a Goodmans 28" widescreen TV and I cant find any discrete codes for it. Does anybody have any suggestions of how to get around this problem?

I never heard of that company. I even did a web search on google, and it didn't come up with any electronic stuff. Well it did on ebay, but that is done for.

So here's a question for you, is there any web site address in the manual for the tv? Or even a phone number. Where you can contact them and ask them who REALLY makes their products, such as tvs.

Then from there you might find some ir codes on this site from the real company who makes them.

If you can't find it. Then just copy and paste all of the ON and or OFF ir codes for each of the company's on here.

It might be a long process, but at least you'll get them. That is if they exist.

Kingo,

Lest you are aware, we're talking a (Scottish) TV with, I would assume, scart switching. And yes the Goodmans name does exist, though whether they actually make anything is somewhat moot.

PS re. Google - type in "goodmans televisions uk".

Sandyman,

You might be lucky, but I think you'll more likely find that discrete codes for AV switching (which would make life considerably easier) do not exist. However, assuming we are talking scart there is a reasonably cost effective way around the problem.

Use an rgb scart switcher, available from Lektropacks or Keene Electronics. Connect your Sky box and DVD to it, the output of which then goes to AV1 of the TV.

Thanks for the replies guys, I tried the descrete codes on the files section for other brands of TV but none worked. I guess this will teach me not to buy another cheap television.
I have two scart sockets on my TV but because my DVD player is hooked up using the composite connections on the dvd player, the automatic switching does not work on this input. I think I will need to invest in another scart lead for the dvd player. The only problem with this is that I am using the second scart socket on the tv to take sound from the TV to the amp (but this shouldnt really matter as I can take me sound signal from my digibox).

Composite . . . aaarrrrgghhh! You really do need to get some form of switcher to take both the digibox and and dvd into AV1, which is the one that's usually wired for rgb (check your manual).

PS
Seems the marketing men are taking heed. More and more sets are becoming available with more than one rgb wired scart.

@sandman69

I've had this problem, but on a Sony TV, a 32-FQ75U, which was the dogs danglies at the time I bought it. It too only has 1 RGB scart. My RGB equipment includes
DVD, Sky and TiVo. I'll soon be adding a PS2 as well with a cable a friend is making up for me for RGB output.

In the past I've used the B-Tech Quattro+. Reasonably priced including IR remote (to integrate AV switching into a CCF) however this ony has 2 RGB scart inputs. As I will soon be needing 3+ RGB switchable scart inputs I'm getting the newer version with 4 RGB scart inputs.

Easy to use and no wall wart! Ideal to solve your predicament.

Worth a look or for a cheaper solution mail me and I'll give you details of mine which is for sale

Richard :-)
