Can you please recommend a receiver that I can catch HiDef via terrestrial antenna and DirecTV but comes with discrete codes for On and Off? My Mitsu SR-HD5 just broke down on me (only the satellite input part does not work, the terrestrial part is still OK though) and I need to get a new one. THIS TIME WITH DISCRETE ON & OFF.

We have been installing the zenith, works great, discrete power, haven't seen any discrete HD/SD codes. It also has a nice signal strength screen where A,B,&C can be seen at the same time. We were very disappointed with the Samsung.

Why do you need discrete on/off codes? Most people just leave the sat receiver on all the time, there is no need to switch it off. Except for one reboot, my Hughes has never been switched off since I installed it. On your Mits for example, the power consumption is almost the same whether it is "on" or "off". Switching it off only closes down the outputs.

the Mitsubishi HD receiver is made by Hughes and is the same receiver as the HIRD E86 the only differance is the name on the front. the only discrete codes are the HD/SD codes. and there are no discrete on off codes or work arounds.

Go with the Zenith 520, it's a very nice piece.

Discrete codes are available on this site for Pronto devices.

The Sony HD200 is also a very nice unit- the Zenith and the Sony are both made by LG Electronics but have different remotes and codes.
