I am a very happy owner of a Pronto TS-1000 (I was one of the first to purchase when they came out). I have had it for a few years and have been very pleased. I recently decided to make a few changes to my CCF to update it. I have seen a few design elements that I like in some of the CCF files posted on this site. However, they are saved under the latest version of ProntoEdit software and Pronto firmware.

I am currently running ProntoEdit v1.03 and Pronto firmware SYS v3.5 / APP v4.8b1. I did not upgrade in the past because of the "re-booting" problems with the newer versions. I have never had a problem with re-booting. I have not seen many posts recently about problems with the ProntoEdit software or firmware, but I am still a little leary of upgrading.

Does anyone know if the latest version of software / firmware is stable? Are there any known problems that I may experience? Also, if I do upgrade the firmware on the remote and experience problems, can I go back and re-install an older version of the firmware? Basically, I want to know if the reward will be worth any risk.

Thanks,
Greg

Download pe 1.05 which contains the latest firmware for the ts-1000. Every pe since then still has it. But it's better to download that pe, upgrade the firmware from there.

Then uninstall pe 1.05 and install pe 4.05 Where you have more options as far as "drag and drop" features. Only thing that you'll have to look out for is when down/uploading. You must wake up the remote. I do this by holding the back light button on the side of the remote until the down/up load starts. This is to ensure that it connects.

Yes the manual may say "don't use the remote while any down/uploads" But by pressing the back light button, your not using it. Your just turning it on.

As far as I know, there haven't been any "bugs" in the latest firmware. So get out of the ice age buddy.

Not sure if you could downgrade firmware though. Nobody that I know of has tired it.

the rebooting problem was not caused by PE, but was a problem with a Pronto Hardware and interference. They fixed it by creating a firmware that was more tolerant of that interference. I think it is worth upgrading PE just for the new features that were added.

Thanks for your help. I was a little leary of upgrading when I read all the posts about the re-booting problems with the earlier versions. I have experienced problems in the past with PC software upgrades that ended up causing more problems than fixes. I will give your suggestions a try and keep my fingers crossed...

Thanks again for the help.
