I have been using my RC5200 self-custom-programmed remote for a while, however this is one issue I have been unable to resolve.

My Integra 9.1 does not have a discrete code or "known-state" that allows the 5200 to "force" DolbyII music or DolbyII movies. It cycles. Therefore you tend to leave it in music when you usually want movies, etc. I have posts from months ago that seems to confirm this.

As an alternative, I had the idea that if you switched it to music processing, perhaps I could program a button on the 5200 that would take you to a screen that would "remind" you to cycle the processing mode back. Not sure how to do this though.

Of course I am open to other suggestions or how others have gotten around this limitation in the Integra.

Thanks,
BillB

What I do is:
- have one button on every page called "Set Up"
- this jumps to a second page where there is button for each device/function to get it into the correct state e.g. TV On/Off, TV Input
- a return button takes me back to the original page

Fot a Pronto this means that every page has a second page behind it, but as you have a RC5200 you can use the Back feature.

This ones easy.

Use Multiple inputs on the Receiver.

The Integra stores last Surround mode used per input.

Most common scenerio I run into us a Multi-Disc DVD changer. Customers like to Listen to Music in 5ch Stereo, But movies sound terrible in 5ChSt.

If the DVD has Multiple Digital outputs, I run BOTH to the receiver, If only one, then Digital for "DVD" and Analog for "CD" Then you can leave "CD" in 5 Ch Stereo. Or PLII-Music, and DVD can stay on PLII/DD/DTS wthout having to change surround modes. The 9.1 has enough inputs to even split 3 or 4 ways if need be.

Then other option with the 9.1 is to use RS-232. Discrete Soundfield Selelection is available that way.

Thanks.
I do utilize the multiple inputs and flexibility on the 9.1 which will keep one input on say 5ChSt and the other on DD. This works great when using all DSP modes OTHER than trying to keep DOlby II music and movies separate on different inputs.

I have tried everything and changing between Dolby II-Music and DolbyII-Movies changes ALL inputs that are on Dolby II to that version of dolby II. So if you have TV on DII movies and switch to CD, that will be on DII movies. Put CD on DII music, go back to TV, and that will not be on DII music also!!!
It did it on my original 9.1 still does on my upgraded to THX2 version.

Why do I want this? Because I like to use DolbyII-Music for whole-house audio music which is an analog input, however if I use DolbyII music for that, my TV analog input also switches to DolbyII Music along with my satellite optical digital input. So not only is DolbyII music vs movies not only a discrete code, when you switch one to music or movies, it switches the others inputs also...

I also am familiar with the steady state suggestion....However I cannot find any steady-state that will work so you KNOW that you are in DolbyII movies or music for sure.

Impaqt, if you could try this next time you are playing with a 9.1 I would appreciate it.
Thanks, I will keep trying!

Well, If I were in your shoes, I would probobly contact Celadon and have them build you a custom IR to RS-232 box for soundfield control. (You can also use a Xantech IR-RS232A but then you would have to program it yourself)
