Just got my Pronto RU940 and having read the review on this site it refers to the UEI database in BRAND mode. Is this only available on the US TSU2000 version as I can't see that option on my UK version?

the 940 does not have it. It is available in the 950 and 970

Yes, RU940 has no internal IR DB, so you need to learn all IR codes when configure it standalone.
You can use bigger IR DB from Marantz TSS, if you will program RU940 as RC5000i. The only caution – do not use "jump backward" and all jumps except the last position at the action list.
