Hi all,

A while back I bookmarked a page that I thought was from this forum. Now I can not seem to find it. It was regarding hooking your pc up to a whole house audio system and using your remote to play mp3's off of your pc. I have the remote (9200), I have the whole house audio system (russound) and I finally have a pc hooked up next to my whole house audio system. I now need the connection/hardware/software to play mp3's. I've searched for a half hour already. Does anyone remember where i could find this information?

thank you

Hi Gipper,

I came across a product from the www.smarthome.com website, see link below, that may be a viable option. It comes with its own remote and you could also download the pronto ir codes for it.

[Link: smarthome.com]

Hope this helps,

Try the various utilities I have at
[Link: seahunt4pl.co.uk]

They allow you to load your mp3s into a databse then load this onto the remote for track or album access.

Hope this helps,
Bruce.

I appreciate the help. However, this was something that would store your mp3's on your pc's hard drive and you would be able to use your remotes' rf commands to select the songs you wanted to hear. Basically, it was software for the pc and some kind of ir repeater that hooked up to your pc. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Try the AudioTron [Link: turtle-beach.com] . It takes mp3, and other music files from the pc and plays them through the receiver and whole house system. I have the Kustom whole house system and use the Pronto TSU2000 with both. It is tremendous. Audiotron has a list serve of owners and users that are ready to help with any problem and the tech support folks monitor it for our assistance. Give it a look over.

Thanks Lorenzop and henryj. Looks like there might be 100 ways to skin a cat, but that is a very good choice. I have figured out my problem. But I still don't have a mechanism to control my pc via remote control. So I'll keep searching.

Check out Prismiq they make a small box that sits on the network and gives you an on-screen GUI for your MP3's on the Puter....

The audiotron comes with a software audiostation that allows you to rip cd's and design playlist from the computer. You can control the AT with your internet browser. I am on the third floor of the house and the music equipment including a pc dedicated to storing my music is in the basement rec room. I can play what ever song or combination I want into whatever room I want. I use the pronto TSU2000 to control everything from my desk. Look into it. You will be ok.

Hi Gipper,

Check this out, I found this little device made by Keyspan that does exactly that. It controls your PC via IR
[Link: keyspan.com]

Furthermore, there is one remote called the ATI's Remote Wonder which uses RF signals to control your pc, see link below
[Link: extremetech.com]

Dont know if you would be able to use the ATI with Pronto though.

Hope this helps.
