The input of my fellow/lady forum members would be most appreciated here: While downloading a configuration to my tsu2000, the remote was inadvertently jarred. Not good, I know. Now the screen has defaulted to its Calibration screen (the one where the user must touch first the left-top corner of the screen, and then touch the bottom-right corner to re-calibrate). Followed the instruction and a "Calibration Failed" indication resulted. Also know that I've rebooted the Pronto by pressing a pin into the whole at the back of the unit. Chatted a bit with the onphone tech @ Philips, and was told I'd have to send it to them to fix (at a $110.00 bite, yet ::ouch::). I'm hoping that one of you good folk may know how to resolve my Pronto problem here without losing such a chunk of money. I'd rather use that towards the updated color Pronto that's sure to hit the market soon (Just as the tsu3000's and update on the B&W 2000, it doesn't take a fortune-teller to know that the 3000 will soon have a color counterpart, as well). Thanks, folks :) -Val

You need to reflash the firmware to get it operating again. After pressing the reset button you'll have to "catch it" at just the right time in the cycle, so many attemts may be required. Just don't give up, it'll work eventually. Jim L

Followed the instruction and a "Calibration Failed" indication resulted. When you pressed the little arrows at the corners of the screen, what did you use? If you used something with a "larger" surface area, such as your finger, then that is why it failed. Use something like a pda pen, or something with a point at the end. If too sharp, be careful of course. Rob

also when calibrating the screen you need to use a pointy object, (stylus, back side of pencil...) you cannot use your finger.
P.S. hope you don't mind getting replies by guys, not too many ladies here.

Actually, I use the End of the Pronto Download Cable (THe Stereo Mini jack, not the DB-9... ;-)) to calibrate with. Always handy, and not too sharp.

Which concept? That the Pres isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, or that the blondes were capable of an intellegent opinion? Actually, the second concept seems much more unlikely, but it was a joke - nothin' personal. I was no more serious than you were. Just fishing for one of your great comebacks. Jim L

Several great and useful responses that resulted in my Pronto being back amongst the living...and a couple wholly unrelated that, at least, warranted a chuckle.
Thank you, everyone for you help :) Within 5 seconds of reading your postings, the remote was back up and running. Wonderful. Interesting that the service tech didnt know that I should simply use a small, rounded point to calibrate the screen: we had gone over several "solutions" before telling me I had to send it in for repair. It simply didnt feel right; that's why I waited till I heard from the forum. $110 for 5 seconds' work: I WANT A JOB LIKE THAT! :)
Thanks, again, folks...and be well -Val
