Impaqt,
I wasn't feeling offended and I understand some of the frustration of the more experienced people that post here. I just checked the forum today and seen a topic that told me (a newbie) to read and was just trying to explain the other side to you guys. For the ones that can't remember back so far as when they were green. But point taken and I will do more research before asking a question. And you helped me earlier today and I really do appreciate it. But you have to expect a reaction when someone starts a thread like this one.

My favorite was Shabaz (or something similar),
never did post his ccf, even after repeated promises
to do so. The best thing I can say about him
is that we finally DID teach him to speak English.

Jim-

Oh yeah... that would be TOBAZ!

The way I remember it, he taught ME to speak "Tobaz".

I'm getting all misty-eyed just remembering him...

Tobaz phone home! I miss you!

Knowlage is power very easy for the ones who have
been inpowered with it. but that dose give people
the right TO BULLY.To have such a gift is presious.dose
it make you feel good in belittling someONE whos
no so clever as your selves ITRULY HOPE IT DOSE
AS ONE DAY SOON YOUR TIME WILL COME.

e pereira, I'll assume your talking to me here since it was right after my response and you failed to give any other Quote....

I really dont see where I, Or anyone posting or responding to this thread, is "Bullying" anyone. If I sounded like I was bullying someone, I certainly did not intend to. Do a search here and see how many "newbie" posts I've offered helpful advice to over the last few months and you'll notice that I try to be as helpful as possible.

This thread is simply to help encourage the new Pronto user to Play with the puppy and do a little research before asking repetitive questions.

Sometimes it IS hard to know how to phrase a question for a new user, I understand that, but I have seen New users get Extreamly rude after someone tried to help. Who's fault was it? The New user for not correctly stating his question, or the "Expert" who answered the question to the best of his ability with the information provided?????

The World may never know.............

Barry,

Yeah, I had forgotten you became bilingual. There were other threads as well. Funny thing is just about the time he started to become useful, he disappeared.

Wow, I'd forgotten just how "unique" Tobaz really was!

Just did a search and spent about 20 minutes re-living the glory that was TOBAZ...

Now THATS entertainment!

To Fubar!
Don't go to any other forum. The guys here are of GREAT help. Imagine you opened this forum for the first time a week ago, not finding this thread. You find that 99% of all questions are answered. I asked stupid questions in the beginning getting answer like "look up FAQ" aso, which is the best answer you can get. To cite someone in this forum "Play with the baby" for me referes not only to your new remote but also to this site.

On the other hand I just want to say, that what sometimes is perceived as beeing lazy (not telling what remote you have, not having found the obvious answer in the FAQ or in old threads), is sometimes just pure ignorance.
It becomes lazyness only when the same guy seems to go on asking obvious questions as time goes by.
Than God I don't see it happen all to often.

Greetings to all and welcome to Fubar

Thanks for the welcome :)

And I hope I did not offend you guys with my post? but when I seen the thread I did expect that maybe someone had made an information post with recommend hints and links for newbies to look at like the FAQ, by the way that is a very informative FAQ :)

When a newbie gets his new toy, it can be very confusing for him, and what ever questions he may ask are not repetitive questions as far as he (oops) or she :)is concerned, I can understand that answering the same questions over and over again, can be annoying, but we *the newbies* have a new toy, and we want it to work NOW :)

Hell if the damn postman can deliver my RU940 at 06:30 in the morning (the *bleep*) I want to play with it ASAP :) and who opens a box and reads the manual, when you have that nice shiny new toy, seducing you to play with her :)

I am not too ashamed to admit that I spent the 1st 15 minutes trying to learn keys from my remotes (getting nothing but failed on each attempt), before I realised I was using the wrong end to learn from ROLMFAO :)

I did the same (learning from the wrong side) and called Philips to complain...
But the worst of it was that they exchanged my RU940 for a new one!!!!
Anyway, thank God this episode lays way,way in the past!

Chill chaps. It's not only the inexperienced that suffer the odd blond moment.
