Since this is the first day every with a Pronto for me I'll caution you all to believe anything I write.

The thing is that I just got my refurbed TS1000 I ordered from pcsellers today and of course got started with it at once. I've flashed up the firmware to 3.62/4.85 (the latest one). After that I tried learning it some codes from my tv (the channels), my vcr (channels again) and projector (input). None of them worked. Usually my tv blinks when it receives something close, but it didn't this time.

Guessing I wasn't very good at it, I went on to downloading ccfs and trying them instead. After finding a perfect match for my vcr I tried that one. But no success.

I'ver tried to flash the firmware from another computer and downloading the ccf from there too. But there is no change.

The built in codes doesn't work either with my Philips tv.

My amateur guess is that the transmitter diode is dead. What do you guys think? And more importantly, can you help me?

if you have any kind of a video camera, set it recording and point the pronto at it and press a few buttons. if you see flashes you'll now the emitters are working, there's like five or six of 'em, if you don't see any flashes then there's something wrong, just not likely ALL the diodes went out at the same time.......send it back. (hoping you got some kind of warranty).

also did you use the CCF or did you just copy a few of the panels. You might have deleted the panels with the IR codes

Star, there are only 4 ir leds in the 1000 and 2000. As for the 3000 and 6000, not too sure. But I would assume there are 4 as well.

Choy. I know that you said that you got a 1000. I am hopen that you really did get a 1000. I say this because there have been reports of a 1000 case, and price tag, but a 2000's guts and firmware. I don't know any other way to check but to see if you have a selection for "BRAND" in the pull down menu on the remote. However, since you put a 1000's firmware in there I don't think that will show up even if it's a 2000's guts.

If you have no succes with Star's advice. Then I would try to reflash the firmware with the 2000's firmware to see what happens. If it says that its the wrong device. Try it again. Still no luck, then send it back.

Also, did you learn the ir codes correctly?

Have both pronto and oem (to be learned from) point away from you. So that the oem is pointing at the buttom of the pronto.

Press and let go of a button on the pronto. Once it says "LEARN" Press and hold the oem's button until the pronto beeps and says "OK".

Even though you have a philips tv, the built in codes may not work for that. All depends of age of both remote and or tv.

I'll try your suggestion, but I don't have a camera here at the moment so it'll have to wait. Why am I supposed to see the flashes with the camera but I can't see them with my eyes?

Anthony:
I copied the entire ccfs. And the pronto responded when I pressed the buttons, which should indicate that the codes are there, right?

I'm pretty sure that I have a 1000 since the firmware before I flashed it was 3.60/4.82 or something like that. And it didn't work before I flashed it, either. Hmmm.. Perhaps that suggests that it is a 2000...
About the learning part, I think I got it right. I've read the faq and some posts of you guys. Furthermore the remote responded with ok:s most of the time.

Why am I supposed to see the flashes with the camera but I can't see them with my eyes?

the human eye is incapable of perceiving infra red wavelengths, without assistance from a device that can, such as a video camera.

It's not a 2000 since the sw after a while says "This Firmware Update is not designed for your Device!!! Please use another Firmware Update that was designed for your device."

star50fiveoh:
So the camera would be able to record the ir light in a way that I can see if I watch the camera's picture on a telly?

Star, there are only 4 ir leds in the 1000 and
2000.

And two each are in series so if one is bad then you'll only have two transmitting.

Ok got it confirmed now. The leds are dead.

It seems very odd to me that a video camera should show the flashing from a remote, since that means that the camera is actually showing the wrong color. Anyway I confirmed that it did show the flashing with the other remotes I have at home.

So thanks everyone for your help. At least now I'm fairly certain where the problem lies.
