My TS1000 has developed stripes! Pixels are disapearing, leaving a one or two pixel wide vertical stripes up and down the remote. the hardbuttons work fine, touchscreen responds by lighting up, but doesn’t executing the button. Reset didn't help. Reloaded ccf, updated firmware. When rebooting the screen comes on normally (soild no lines) then the striped slowly fade in. The home screen is displayed like normal and beeps. HELP!
Thanks,
Jody

Sounds like you need a new screen, or at the very least, you have a connection which is loose. You could try reflashing the firmware - but it's very doubtful that'll help.

If you need a replacement screen, you can do it yourself. A forum search will yield a lot of info. Philips will replace it for a fee, but at their price, you'd be better off getting a refurb from ebay.

The most amazing thing just happened! I just got a phone call from the nicest girl at avoutfitters.com (where I bought my Pronto back in October of last year). She says "are you having the problem with the Pronto on the remotecentral forum". My jaw dropped. She tracked me down and informed me that I still had a warranty and could send it back to Phillips! She is e-mailing me with a receipt so I can send it back. How is that for customer service. I think she said her name was Wendy, I was so shocked, I forgot her name. Way to go and ...... wow, I couldn't even finish this post and I have received her e-mail. Her name is Wende.

AWESOME JOB

How did you find out it was the connection?

The only way that I could figure out how you knew that. Is that you fixed it yourself. In which case I dont know why you want to do that.

ummmmmmmm, yeah........opening it up might just void wende's offer.

which, after doing a bit of research was a damned fine offer, and very curious as well.

in a very previous post (10/31/02) you state that you had "just received" your 1000.

now almost 8˝ months later you mention a problem and WHAM!, outta-the-blue wende contacts you.

if you bought it new, way back then, you might still have a warranty -just voided by opening it up-

if you bought refurb, then the warranty was only for 3 months*, and just voided by opening it up.

*(from av outfitters return policy)
Defective Items
If you receive an item that is defective upon arrival or becomes defective within thirty (30) days of receipt you have two options. 1) Follow the instructions in your owner's manual as to how to receive warranty service, or 2) Call us at (888) 877-4301 to request a "Return Authorization" (RA) number. You may return the item for refund or exchange. You are, however, responsible for all shipping and handling charges.

curious minds want to know............

Hi Star! If you buy a refurb Pronto from an authorized Philips dealer you get the same 1 year warranty as if you bought it brand new.

I confess! I lurk! ...and I did track Jody down (at work) to tell him that his item was still under warranty. Just didn't want him to spend money that he didn't have to.

Well,Star, you brought me out of the shadows! I kinda liked being the "lurker with a good soul".

Hope you have a really good day!

Wende

Um Wende, I was the one who asked who you were. On top of that I gave a "good going" Now I feel small cus you didn't say anything about me.

Only two messages since you started back in December.

And now I know why you signed on here. After viewing your first posting.

Now don't take that as a threat.

nanny-nanny boo-boo.........

maybe wende just don't like typographically challenged man maids........but, i'm not pointing any fingers here rob, king of the typographically challenged man-maids.

c'mon, casino man......put 'em uuup.....put 'em uuuuuuup!! i'm ready fer ya!

questions still surrounding how he knows it's the connection, without voiding the warranty by opening it up. surely your warranty policies aren't that lenient!

ROB!! Sorry! Don't feel small. I just only "speak" on here when I feel I have to defend or correct. -- The 3 month warranty was wrong. -- and my honor was at stake when I had to post that first time.

Thanks for being nice and asking who I was. Sorry I didn't reply. It took me a while to get used to the fame. :) Usually, I just stick around here in the dark and heed the advise that you guys give the others -- in case the day comes when there are no incredibly genius, all knowing men around and I have to program my own Pronto! :)

I really appreciated the "good going" -- it made me feel very proud. Actaully, the whole post made my day. So, Thanks King! --

Love,
Wende
