I have an RC5000 (bought it early on). I have Software update 2.3. I can not insert my own hex codes - I want to insert certain discrete codes that I downloaded. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong would be much appreciated.

Version 2.3 is rather old, you should consider upgrading to TouchScreenSetup version 2.0.4. Before anyone can tell you what you're doing wrong, it would be helpful if we knew what you did that didn't work. In any event, you may need to enable developer mode. The easiest way to do this is download Daniel's Pronto.ini Workshop, available here: [Link: remotecentral.com]. Install and run it (it's self explanitory). If you're still having problems, ask again. Jim:
Thanks for th input. Developer mode did the trick. For some reason 2.4 (which I like much better) will not upload into my RC5000. Ran out of patience (for the moment) trying to figure out why, so I reverted to 2.3, which worked fine with the Developer Mode patch.
Back to programming...almost four years and I am still making changes.

It is called download when going from PC to RC5000.
Usually download problems are fixed by activating the screen prior to the download.
You can use both versions side by side.

When you say "activating" the screen, do you mean tapping it to bring it to life? If so, at what point during the download process should I do this?

Martin, Activate the screen (tap and turn on) PRIOR to starting your upload or download. Jim L

Thanks (again)! This sounds so easy even I might be able to handle it. I will try the technique this weekend.

Yeah, it's easy but causes lots of problems on some remotes/computer operating systems because it's an undocumented "feature". Tonto on the other hand, doesn't require the screen to be on to download/upload. Jim L

Oddly enough, it did not do it with prior versions. Go figger!

Jim:
Thanks for the tip. By activating the remote, the downloads were not a problem.
